Nasca Lines, Peru (16)

Posted by Michael (Wuppertal, Germany) on 11 December 2007 in Landscape & Rural.

This is the last post in this series about the Nasca lines.
The photo shows the "Lady of the Pampa", Dr. hc. mult. Maria Reiche.
For more than 40 years of her life she spent fin exploring the Nasca Lines.

At last in 1995 the lines of Nazca were set under protection of the UNESCO. At the end of her creative activity Maria Reiche was decorated five times with the honorary doctorate and the highest decoration of the Peruvian government as well as the first class order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Peruvian nationality was awarded her as an honour, because she never gave up her German ones.
